Hardcover books always ship in a box so the corners won't get dinged any worse than they were when I described them. Paperbacks will usually ship in bubble mailers with cardboard to protect them.
I ship using USPS Media Mail, generally, but that method has gotten slow and somewhat unpredictable lately. Inquire about alternative shipping methods (more expensive, sorry) if you have to have something by a specific date.
